Rebuild the city of Pompeii and climb the social ladder. Roman society is full of intrigues that the player has to navigate in order to become a powerful ruler.

Pompeii: The Legacy is a unique city-building game set in the Roman Empire, focusing on the legendary city of Pompeii. The game begins 20 years after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, where the player is tasked with rebuilding the city from the ashes. As the head of a Roman family, the player will manage the reconstruction efforts over several generations, making critical decisions that will shape the future of the city. Each generation brings new challenges and opportunities, with the player choosing their successor at the end of their life.

The gameplay is deeply rooted in historical events, offering a campaign that spans over 200 years. The player will need to use political skills to govern the people of Pompeii, navigating the complex social hierarchy of the Roman Empire.

The game includes a robust production and supply chain system, where the player manages resources, builds critical infrastructure like roads and aqueducts, and engages in maritime trade with other cities in the empire. This trade system encourages the development of diplomatic skills, allowing the player to expand their influence across the empire.

In addition to city management, the player can embark on expeditions within and beyond the borders of the Roman Empire. These expeditions, often involving members of the player's family, provide unique opportunities and challenges.

For players who enjoy military strategy, the game offers optional RTS-style military engagements, where the player can defend the city from external threats or participate in Roman military campaigns. However, for those who prefer a peaceful approach, Pacifist Mode allows the player to focus solely on city-building, trade, and diplomacy without engaging in combat.

The game’s design subtly incorporates active and passive bonuses through Family Bonuses, Research and Development options, and Imperial Privileges, adding depth and strategy to the gameplay.
